Wow, can't believe it's been nearly 2 years since I've written anything on here :)
I have played in a few tournaments in that period... Just nothing worth writing about ;)
So... This past weekend it was the Bauhaus Dutch Open Darts 2017 in Assen (The Netherlands). Pairs on Friday, February 3rd and Singles on Saturday, February 4th. Played pairs with Samantha Linssen.
There were 151 ladies pairs and Samantha and we made it to the last 64.
We had a bye in the first round and then won our next game 3-0. We then had to wait for about an hour and a half to play our next game against Lisa Ashton and Sue Cusick.
We both played fairly well and did get an opportunity in the second leg, but lost 3-0 to the ladies. We did manage to get to a possible check-out in all legs, so that's not so bad considering we were playing the World Champion and Sue is a very good player too.
Reasonably satisfied with the way we played.
On Saturday we played the singles. 305 ladies which is a very good turn out. Though, this is one of the biggest tournaments out there.
First game was at 1400 and I really struggled. I shook like a leaf all throughout the game. Not stress, just pure adrenaline and that is very annoying. I can tell you that. I played a Dutch lady named Heleen van Voorst. Won that 3-1. Lucky to win that one.
Next game was at 1540 against another Dutch lady; Mery Wolsink. Wasn't shaking anymore at that point and won 3-1. Double trouble in one leg.
Both Heleen and Mery though spoke English to me because they thought I was English. :D Funny that. Haha.
I knew my third game was going to be tough. I had to play Diana Appeldoorn. This was at 1620. I know Diana and I know she can play. That though goes both ways because she knows me too.
Neither of us really played our best game and I was really glad to win 3-2. Relieved actually.
Immediately after this game I played the board final against Rhian Griffiths. Rhian plays for the Welsh National Team. It was fairly close and I lost 3-2. My own fault. Should've stayed on the 19's as these were going very well.
I hit 133 on 255 to leave 122. Rhian missed double 18. Then I hit a big 1 with my first dart :( Left myself on 100 and Rhian checked out.
Overall I'm happy with the way I played. Certainly didn't expect to get to the last 32. :)
