Well, let's just say it's been a while since I've done a major tournament. But, I couldn't skip the Belgium Open, could I?
Saturday the pairs were played. I played Mixed Pairs with Darryl "The Dazzler" Fitton and ladies pairs with Elisa Schollaert.
Mixed pairs were up first and we had our first game at 10:00H. Dazz had me in a bit of a panic because he strolled in at 09:55H. :s Turns out he doesn't really need all that much time to warm up ;)
We played our first game against John Desreumaux and Maggie Sutton. My form hasn't been great for a few months now, but thank God I had Dazz as a partner. We won 3-0.
Our next game was at 11:00H against my lil' brother; Dimitri Van den Bergh and his lovely girlfriend Janina Wunderlich. We managed to win that game 3-1. I must say, my darts were going better than they had in months, but... I have Dazz to thank for the win. And Dimitri wasn't in the zone because he normally plays a hell of a lot better.
Our next game followed this one immediately and this was against Francky Sabbe and Anja Ghijs. We won this one 3-1 as well. And on to the next one... Woo-hoo!!
In to the last 16 and up against Sam Head and Fallon Sherrock. Tough game that one. I played absolute crap so basically it was Dazz against the two of them. I missed 66 to end the game 3-1. Sam checked out after I left Dazz on D9.
Dazz missed 145 for the game. He wired it and Fallon checked out D3. :( So, it ended in the board final for us. All in all, not bad, but we could've gone further.
The winners of the mixed pairs were Scott Waites/ Anca Zijlstra defeating Ross Montgomery/ Zoe Jones in the final.
The ladies and men's pairs were played in the afternoon. Our first game was at 15:00H. We were delayed approximately 30 minutes due to the previous game taking a while and also our marker never showed so we had to find a replacement. You lose, you mark. It's that simple.
Neither of us played very well so we lost our first game 3-0 against Jill Desmedt/ Bianca Moyson. Bianca played very well. And yes, we could've taken a leg but we didn't.
Ladies pairs champions were Fallon Sherrock/ Anastasia Dobromyslova. The runners-up were Zoe Jones/ Maggie Sutton.
Men's Pairs champions were Madars Razma/ Darius Labanauskas. Runners-up were Ryan De Vreede/ Ron Meulenkamp.
Antwerp Open in two weeks. Hopefully my game's up by then.
