I arrived last night and checked into my lovely B&B. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it's actually more of a cottage. Kitchen, living room and bathroom on the ground floor and bedroom upstairs. Not bad at all I say. :) Bread rolls are brought fresh by the baker himself in the morning. Happy days.
My first game was on at 1100H on board 34. I played Tania Dewitte and despite my double trouble managed to win 4-1. Scoring was okay. Tania did have tough luck though because of the boards. I think at least 10 of her darts fell back out. The boards are rather hard and she has a rather "soft" throw.
My next game was at 1215H against Paula Jacklin. I started out well and was 2-0 up. Missed doubles and she took the 3rd leg. Both of us not really playing our best but I managed to go 3-1 up. Struggled again and Paula took the 5th leg. I thought to myself "Come on. One more." (I know... Mistake: I THOUGHT)
Hit too many treble 1's and 5's and it got to 3-3. Scoring was a bit better, but due to a few really bad ones Paula was on a double first.
I managed to leave myself 54 and got my chance. Easy right? Single 14, double top? Well... For some reason I pushed the first dart and hit a treble 12.... WTF?? How far off can you be? Composed myself for double 9, but missed it just inside and busted. Paula then hit the winning double.
Seriously pissed off with myself for screwing up the game as I had plenty of chances to finish it sooner.
On to tomorrow and hopefully better.
So, stranded in the last 32 today.
