Picked up Anca this morning at 07:30H and at 08:00H we were on our way to Esbjerg, Denmark for the Danish Open 2013.
It was a fairly smooth drive. No traffic jams or any other issues. We drove across the Danish border around 16:00H.
We are staying at Hotel Ansgar were we arrived a little before 18:00H. It's a pretty nice hotel. Curious to see what they'll serve for breakfast :)
We had dinner at a place called Christian IX. Not too bad; though eating a burger with cutlery is quite the experience. :s
Tomorrow the singles will be played; starting at 11:00H. I'm in group 7. Fingers crossed.
Played my first game at 11:20H against Berit Christiansen (DK) and won 3-0. It went pretty well; scores and doubles. Not too thrilled that I had to play Aileen De Graaf in the next round, but ... I did my best. Missed my double to go 1-0 up. 2nd leg I missed 150 on double 18, but checked it with the first dart on my next turn. 1-1. Threw a crappy 3rd leg; 2-1 for Aileen. 3 bad turns in the 4th leg and left myself on 135. Aileen had tops left. And then I made the mistake of going for treble 20 instead of bull. Hit a one instead and well... Aileen won 3-1. Fair and square.
She won the ladies singles of the tournament against Fallon Sherrock. A thriller.
Men's single was won by Jeffrey de Graaf. He played Jan Dekker.
The Dutch were well represented again. :)
Kyana Frauenfelder was runner-up in the girl's singles. 9 years old, but she plays very well. She's got the talent and she's got the support of her family and a lot of other players and I'm pretty sure we'll be hearing a lot more from her.
Pairs tomorrow at 09:30H with Anca Zijlstra.
Oh, and another thing... Pretty decent venue, but chalking with actual chalk... No fun when you wear black. :(
