We finally made it to our destination: Gyor, Hungary. What an adventure it was...
The fligt from Charleroi airport to Budapest was fairly uneventfull; save for a little turbulence during the landing. We rented a car via Sunnycars so we went to pick that up. While waiting in line I actually read the voucher I printed off properly for the first time. Turns out they ask for a € 700 deposit in case anything happens to the rented car. :-\ Grudgingly I let them block the amount on my maestro card. I asked them if it had navigation and they told me it would for an extra deposit of € 250. I kindly declined. Are you friggin' kidding me!!!! We took the papers needed and then went out and bought a map of Hungary. Yup, in this day and age we were going to go old-school. ;) The map cost 900 Florint.
We got an Opel Meriva. Though I thought I booked a small car, but well.... Driving from Budapest to Gyor is fairly easy I must say. We got to the hotel and there we got another nice surprise. :-( They requested a deposit for the room System change, blah-di-blah. The price I booked it for including breakfast: €159,70. The deposit: 50000 HF. This is about €172. Doesn't make sense to me at all that the deposit is higher than the actual room price. I must be thick then, 'cause really; I don't get it.
Luckily the room is nice and apart from traffic outside, quiet.
Tonight there is a warming-up tournament and I am planning on earning back a little money here. Honestly... 8-)
The warming up tournament started a little after 20:00H. Not a lot of participants. First round I played against Anca. I won 3-2... I won my next game with 3-2 as well. I lost the semis to Maret Liiri. Missed double 12 to go 2 all, thus lost 3-1.
Maret won the warming up tournament (ladies).
