Hopefully the pairs will make up for some of the weekend.
Well.... Pairs didn't go as planned either. :( Bye in the first round and then immediately came up against Rachna David and Maret Liiri. They won 3-1. They were the runners-up as well. Veronika Ihasz and Nikolett Wachter won the women's pairs. Veronika played really well this weekend as she won the singles and the pairs. Nikolett also played very well. She hit the winning double in the pairs final.
The winners of the men's pairs were Ron Meulenkamp (NL) and Jim Williams (Wales). Runners-up were Zdravko Antunovic and Rudi Kresic (Croatia).
After the tournament Rachna, Rudi and I went out to eat in the centre. Wasn't a big success either. :) THE recommended Chinese "restaurant". Not a lot of choice and everything gets popped into the microwave. But... For 3 Euros... You can't expect too much I guess. We had an ice cream afterwards. Much better :D
Rachna was staying at the Eto Park hotel & Stadium and we watched a live football game from her room. Something you don't get to do everyday. :D Turned out to be a championship too of some sort. Györi Eto FC (Home team) against Ferencvàros. Home team won 1-0. The guy who scored the only goal also got a red card about a minute later. 3 red cards and 2 yellow cards were given so they ended up playing 8 against 9. :D
It was quite an experience. :)
