Isle of Man Festival of Darts 2019

March 6th I was off to the Isle of Man for the Festival of Darts.

Just got back from a business trip to Winnersh. Home for 12 hours and off again. What a life.

I was supposed to fly from Amsterdam to London City and then on to Isle of Man. However, the flight to London City was delayed by more than an hour so I would miss my connecting flight.

Luckily they managed to book me on another flight from LCY to IoM later that night. So I did get to the Isle late in the evening.

Thursday the Isle of Man Classic was played in the Villa Marina. Men in the main hall, Ladies upstairs.

I had a bye in the first round and lost my first game 3-0 to Clare Stewart. Nothing would go in.

Lorraine Winstanley is the Ladies' Champion of this event with Fallon Sherrick the runner-up.

In the men's the title went to Richard Veenstra. Runner-up was Willem Mandigers.

Friday the Isle of Man Masters were played. Played a little bit better today. Managed to win my first game 4-2 against a local player, Rachel Robertson.

Lots of ups and downs and inconsistency in my next game against Sarah Taylor, also a local player. Lost 4-3. Very disappointed indeed.

Lisa Ashton is the Ladies' Champion of this event with Fallon Sherrock as the runner-up.

Wesley Harms is the men's Champion and Andy Hamilton is the runner-up.

On Saturday I managed to win my first game 4-0, but then had to play Deta next and lost 4-0.

Couldn't hit the right treble to save my life really. Thoroughly disappointed.

Laura Turner is the Ladies' Champion of this event with Deta Hedman the runner-up.

Scott Waites is the Men's Champion and Richard Veenstra is the runner-up.

It's a lovely event, but in all fairness I think the venue is getting a bit too small.
