Today was the first day of the Mariflex Open 2013.
117 mixed pairs, 196 men's pairs and 51 ladies pairs are participating today.
First up were the mixed pairs. My pairs partner was Benito van de Pas. A very talented young Dutch player. We'd never played together before, but I think it went reasonably well despite that and the fact that it was very cold in the venue.
We were up at 10:00H and played against W. Schols and Caitlin Stavast. It was tight, but we won 3-2. :)
Next game we played the pair Uyterlinden/ Exalto and won 3-0. This game went a little smoother ;)
Last 32 we were up against Bryan de Hoog and Aileen de Graaf... Unfortunately we lost 3-1. Not enough trebles and a few missed doubles. Not to mention the fact we were all freezing our butts off. :(
In any case I enjoyed it and I'm sure we would've gotten a lot further if it weren't for cold fingers.
In the ladies pairs I played with Anca Zijlstra. Our first game was at 14:00H against. We managed to struggle through and won. Next game was just as bad if not worse for all 4 of us. Too cold and seriously; if your hands are so cold you can barely feel your darts... You try aiming. :s
I did finish... But I was embarrassed of how I finished. 82: S14-D18-D16. 55: T15-D5 At least the last one was a normal finish; double top. :D
We won
We lost 3-2 to Trina Gulliver and Karin ten Kate. We should've won 3-1, but missed 6 darts on the double both legs. A real shame, but... All things considered... We didn't do that bad.
