Today we played the singles. The temperature in the venue was a bit better than it was yesterday. :)
My first game was a t 13:50H on lane 76.... Or it was supposed to be anyway.
I went to the table, registered and went to the lane. Practiced for a bit and waited... Nobody showed. Diana; the woman who was supposed to mark the game came to me twice, but still no opponent.
Normally you have to register at the official's desk 15 minutes before the start of your game... Anyway, I was talking to Cindy when all of a sudden 2 Junior boys start warming up on lane 76 and a third one is waiting to start marking the game.
I asked them if they were playing on that lane and they confirmed. Weird... Since I was supposed to play on that lane.
So, I went to the official's desk and asked them what the idea was. My opponent? > no show. Okay, so I "won". I would've preferred to actually play though.
I asked them why there was a youth match being played on that board and oh, on which board do I have to mark now? After about 15 minutes I finally got my reply. Someone accidentally put lane 76 into the youth tournament as well as the Ladies tournament. But, they were scratching 76 from the ladies and moving those games to lane 64. Great.
I went to lane 64 and passing lane 76 saw that Anca and Silke were warming up on that lane. I told them they had to play on lane 64 and Arjan (Official) confirmed it. I wonder why the people at the desk didn't inform these two ladies that they had to play on a different lane, but ... Who am I...
Marked the game after "borrowing" a wiper and a marker from another lane, but eventually used my own marker because the other one didn't work.
In any case, my "first" game of the day was at 15:05H on lane 71. My opponent? Rachna David from Norway. :( What a great draw. I lost 3-1, but I put up a reasonable fight. Missed 160 on double top and hit tops on my next turn; evening the score. I missed the double to go 2-1 up and instead was 2-1 down.
4th leg... 100-41-81-22-55-7-42-26 leaving myself on 127 and Rachna checked 40 so yeah...
Result: 17th. I do have points, but am disappointed.
