Saturday the Polish Open 2013 Singles were played.
There were 417 men and 90 ladies. We all played round robin. Because there were twice as many participants as last year; I think they were a bit overwhelmed, so things didn't run as smoothly as we'd have all liked.
We started with a delay too, but all things considered that wasn't so bad.
I was the number 14 seed and I was in the group with Deana Rosenblom (SE), Anna Forsmark (SE), Danuta Kulwicka (POL) and Annet Van Elten (NL).
Because there were so many of us the format was best of 3. Which is crap because you can't really get into the game, but.... Who are we to argue?
I lost to Deana 2-1. I missed my double in the first leg and she checked it. Made 1-1 and the 3rd and deciding leg was a really bad one for me.
I won against Annet 2-0, lost 2-1 to Anna and won 2-0 against Danuta. So, I didn't get through as only the best 2 went through to the last 32; which were Deana and Anna.
Promised myself to make up for it tomorrow.
The ladies singles were won by Deta Hedman. Runner-up was Donna Rainsley.
The men's singles were won by Paul Jennings. Runner-up was Jeffrey De Graaf.
Boy's singles were won by Joshua McCarthy and the girl's singles were won by Anastasia Klocheck.
