RIDO 2013-2

Saturday didn't really start off too well. Damn near overslept. Lucky for me my hotel was only 2 minutes from the venue. Must've switched off my alarm in my sleep. Woke up at 08:43H. Tournament started at 10:00H.

I was on at 10:00H directly, but my opponent - Adriana Ciacaru - was 25 minutes late. I waited longer than I should have and she actually walked in just as I claimed the game. I felt really sorry for her and did feel bad about the whole thing but rules are rules and I had already waited way too long. It was her first big tournament. :(

So I "won" my first game 4-0. I played Mirela Iftode next. Also a Romanian player. She hasn't been playing all that long but played fairly well actually. I won 4-1. In the next round I played Yolanda Korradou. She is from Cyprus and I met her at the first Romanian Open 4 years ago. I won 4-0.

I must say that her game has really improved and I also told her that after our game.

I played the semis against Rachna David and played an absolute crappy game so I lost 4-0. Very disappointed in myself because I really wanted to defend my title and of course I really wanted the Winmau ticket for next year. Should've played better. Simple.

The ladies singles were won by Anelia Eneva from Bulgaria. She played Rachna in the final and won 5-2.

The men's singles were won by Tony O'Shea. Ron Meulenkamp was runner-up. The score was 6-1.

Both Ron and Rachna have qualified for the Lakeside.
