Arrived in rainy, cold Glasgow Friday night. Straight from the airport to the Erskine Bridge hotel. What a far cry that was from my hotel a few weeks ago in Assen... :(
I checked into the hotel and then took a taxi to the Normandy to pick up my player's card. Again I'm set to play in the afternoon session; just like last year. Group 7, board 6 at 16:20H.
By the time I had to play on Saturday I had a splitting headache, but hey... Will see how it goes, right? Well... It didn't. I played a "local" woman by the name of Allison "Ally" McGregor and lost 3-2. In all fairness I should've lost 3-1. She didn't check out however and it went to 2-2. Deciding leg was not very good and that goes for both of us. I got about 9 darts at the double but missed and eventually Ally checked out.
Very frustrated because I know what I am capable of and again it didn't come out. Distracted by my headache and by the fact that half the room was supporting Allison with very loud "C'mon hen" and "C'mon Ally". Not very nice when you're head's already pounding. But... That's a poor excuse. I should've played better and I should've blocked out the noise. Didn't and thus lost.
The ladies' single winner was Anastasia Dobromyslova. Runner-up was Tricia Wright.
The men's single was won by Robbie Green. Runner-up was Jamie Hughes.
