Swedish Open 2012

Friday, August 24th 2012

After a 15-minute delay at Schiphol we were finally off to Stockholm. We arrived at Arlanda airport around 21:30H. Both Steven and I were impressed by the size of Schiphol.... Makes Brussels Airport kinda look like a barn. :D

We shared a cab with Jeffrey De Graaf and Bryan de Hoog to our hotels.

The hotel we're staying in is not too bad. At least we have our own bathroom as opposed to a shared one. We've seen the rooms without bathrooms... More like prison cells really. No window and really small.

Saturday, August 25th 2012 (morning)

Garry Thompson and Martin Atkins are in the same hotel as us and we're walking to the venue together with them and a few others. Apparently it's only 700 meters from here... I certainly hope so as I'm not exactly wearing my hiking shoes. ;)

Saturday evening

The walk to the venue wasn't too far indeed. :)

I played fairly well my first game against Annelin Starlind. Won 4-0 and checked out 128 in the 3rd leg with the bull's eye. :) There were 3 games in between my first and second game which meant I had to wait for about 2 hours before I played again.

Played an absolutely crappy game and lost 4-1 to Lumi Silvàn from Finland. But, I must say that Lumi is a great player and a very nice girl at that. In the last leg she had 132 left after 9 darts... Took her some time to finish, but still... Well played. She lost the quarter final to Deta Hedman.

The ladies single was won by Trina Gulliver and the men's single by Garry Thompson.

Met a few nice and interesting people this weekend and I hope to see them again at other tournaments.
