Swedish Open 2014

I left for the Swedish Open Friday afternoon. My flight to Copenhagen, Denmark left at 16:10H and from there I took the train over the bridge to Malmö, Sweden. Geert De Vos, Stefaan Deprez, Sven Verdonck and his wife Els were on the same flight.

The weather in Sweden was not that great when we got there and I got a very heavy shower on the way to my hotel. Luckily I was wearing a coat with a hood. :(

I was staying in the Scandic Malmö City which is about a 10-minute walk from the actual venue hotel; Scandic Triangln. The only down side to staying there was the fact that right across the street the Malmö Festival was on. Goes without saying that it took me a while to get to sleep. Watched a movie to try and drown out the noise, but only fell asleep after the fireworks. Which sounded more like they were shooting off canons in the war. :(

The singles started at 13:00H. Pretty late, but all things considered not a bad thing. :D

I was the number 13 seed and in group 4 with Rachel Brooks; the number 4 seed. I had a bye in the first round so my first game was at 14:00H.

I played Betina Lund and won 4-0. Girl from Denmark I think. I unnecessarily lost to Deana Rosenblom in the next round. 4-3. Should've finished it 4-2, but missed about 9 darts to do so and in the deciding leg nothing went in. Deana played a cracking last leg though.

Last 32, so I did pick up points and I won a little prize money :)

Ladies Singles winner was Lorraine Winstanley and the runner-up was Zoe Jones.

Men's Singles winner was Alan Norris and the runner-up was Pip Blackwell.
