West-Fries 2019

Off to the West-Fries Open on Friday afternoon.

Friday evening the pairs were played, but I didn't participate in that. No pairs partner and too tired :)

Saturday the West-Fries Intratuin Open 2019 was held at the Sportcentrum in Hoorn. New venue. Bigger than last year and I must say, a lot better than last year. Unfortunately there were also less participants this year.

I had to mark the first game at 1130 and then played my first game at 1300. I changed my darts Monday, but felt confident as they seem to go better than the "old" ones.

I won the game 4-1. Scoring was better and doubles went in fairly well. Happy with my game, thoguh... It can always be better.

Next game was against Femke Herms. I must say I was inconsistent in scoring. Played one very good leg; which I won, but lost 4-1. Back to the practice board. Need to get used to the new darts too. Though they really do feel better.

The Ladies' Champion is Kirsty Hutchinson winning her first BDO title. Runner-up is Laura Turner.

The Men's Champion is Martijn Kleermaker who also picked up his first BDO title. Runner-up is Nick Kenny.

I watched rugby on the Saturday with the Welsh lads; Wayne Warren, Jim Williams, Dean Reynolds and Nick Kenny... I don't understand the whole game, but it was fun watching their reactions. Especially Wayne's and Dean's. :D

Sunday the West-Fries Winmau Masters were played. I now had my first game at 1100 against Quintey Bieman. Youth player. She started off really well, but I was playing okay and won 4-1.

Liking the new darts so I think I might stick with them. Not 100% yet, but that's what practice is for.

Next game was at 1300 against Veerle Hamelink. Scoring up and down and doubles in the first leg were disastrous for both of us. She took the first leg after both of us missing about 15 darts at the double.

I won 4-2, but hate the inconsistency in my game.

I played Jo Clements next at 1400. In all fairness it could've been a good game if I had hit the right trebles as Jo was also struggling to find hers, but alas... Wrong side of the wire hitting treble 1 instead of treble 20. Going down to the 19's and hitting 3, treble 3 :( Really frustrating. Still had chances, but lost 4-1.

The Ladies' Champion for this event is Deta Hedman and the runner-up is Sharon Prins.

The Men's Champion is again Martijn Kleermaker and the runner-up is Wesley Harms.

The Boy's Champion is Danny Jansen beating Kevin Lasker 4-3.

The Girl's Champion is Rosanne van der Velde beating Lerena Rietbergen 3-1.

All in all I think this year's edition of the tournament ran smoother than last year. They obviously listened to the suggestions of participants last year. The venue was much better and there was now also a bar in it. Still no drinks in the playing area; which is completely acceptable. Unfortunately they had less entries than last year. Might've been due to the "clash" with other tournaments. Might've been due to it not being so good last year.

In any case; I'd recommend it for next year.

Next up for me is the 2nd BDC tournament next week.
