I refused to warm up today. I will see how it goes when I have to play.
Already looked at the draw and I will be lucky to make it past the second round. Have a bye in the first round. I don't have the easiest draw, but then again; there are no real bad players here today. :)
I am in group 2 and my first game is at 12:55H. I am playing Lorraine Farlam. If I manage to survive that game I am up against Irina Armstrong. So yeah... Tough draw.
I lost 4-0 to Lorraine, but at least I was on a finish in 3 of the 4 legs. Played better than I did yesterday, but Lorraine was playing really good.
Hope to be back here next year.
I will be watching the other games in City Hall the rest of the weekend.
Didn't go Friday and apparently I missed quite a fuss. Richie George played Ryan Searle. A guy from Devon I had never heard of before. He won, but it seems it wasn't by fair play. It has been all over the net how the "winning" double wasn't actually in at all. The caller made the mistake because he called "Game, shot and the match", but Ryan actually should have just said no, it wasn't in. Whether or not he really did not see it himself is of course open to discussion. But everyone could see it was not in double ten. Guess he will go down in history as the guy who win without actually hitting a double.
Richie had to be taken to hospital after the game. He is a diabetic and his sugar level was way too low. He should have asked for a break in my opinion as soon as he started to feel unwell. He is fine now. (thank God) Unfortunately though they didn't get to replay their match.
Ryan Searle played the last match of the day yesterday against James Wilson. It goes without saying that it was not a very pleasant atmosphere. It was just plain awkward. Ryan got booed the entire game. He played realy well under the circumstances though. I did feel sorry for his family though. Not much sportsmanship from the audience. And his little son and little niece were watching and the rest of his family. Really unpleasant for them. You could say he brought it on himself, but still...
Today the quarters, semis and finals are being played.
