Respect for our PDC boys - woensdag 4 januari 2023

First of all I'd like to wish y'all a happy, healthy, prosperous 2023. May it bring you a lot of darting fun and success.

Now... Regarding the darts... It's still booming in our little Belgium, but the lack of respect towards other players and especially our "boys" representing our country at the PDC is down right appalling.

It's mostly praises all around whenever they win their games, but when they lose a game...? Wow, the criticism on social media..... Disrespectful, disgraceful, mean, lowest of the low.....

If you are a true fan then you support your favorite(s) in victory AND in defeat. Not only in victory. That's not what fans do.

I don't react to those hateful, disrespectful comments and usually don't even read them, but when I do....Seriously? They are truly appalling.
We all have our favorite(s) and it's great to support them (win or lose), but that doesn't mean you have the right to criticize or disrespect others just because you don't like them.

I don't particularly like Mighty Mike, but I will admit that he's one of the very best players in the world. But I won't go around disrespecting the man or his family on Social Media.

If you don't have anything nice to say about someone than just don't say anything at all. And yes, we are all entitled to our opinion, but being disrespectful and hateful towards people you don't even know is just not done.

Most of these "experts" and "critics" haven't a clue about the hours and hours of practice and hard work that the players put in; the sacrifices they make to be (and stay) where they are. The mental and physical aspect of the game is so often underestimated.

Kim, Dimitri and Mike all earned their spot at the World Championship and they most certainly deserve our respect. On top of that Dimitri made history by being the first ever Belgian professional dart player to get to the semi-final of the World Championship. And again: remember that it is thanks to these fellas that you can watch the darts on Belgian TV in the first place.

I suggest all those critics and experts who think or even claim they can do better go to Q-school, get their tour card and PROVE IT.
